William McCants gets 16 years in prison on child-porn charges

YOUNGSTOWN — William McCants in 2010 spent several weeks eluding law enforcement and justice on charges concerning child pornography, but today he begins a 16-year prison term for the crimes.

A grand jury indicted McCants, 46, on 100 felony counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, pandering sexually oriented material involving a child and pandering obscenity. He pleaded guilty to the charges.

He appeared for sentencing today before Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
