Welsh society to sponsor annual banquet

St. David’s Society of Youngstown will sponsor its 122nd annual St. David’s Day Banquet in honor of the patron saint of Wales on March 2 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.
Festivities will begin with a cocktail hour with a cash bar at 4 p.m., followed by the buffet dinner at 5.
The dinner will consist of chicken, Swiss steak, red-skinned potatoes, green beans, rolls and butter, Welsh rice pudding, and Welsh cakes, tea and coffee.
Entertainment will be by the Wade Raridon Singers, speakers and group singing. Toasts will be offered to St. David, Wales and the USA.
The cost per person is $18.50.

The banquet is on the Saturday closest to March 1, St. David’s Day. The hall will be decorated with Welsh flags, shields, banners, pictures of St. David and daffodils, the national flower of Wales.
St. David’s Society was established in 1860 as an organization of the Welsh people of the Mahoning Valley to meet and promote their Welsh heritage and carry on the traditions of their native Wales.
