POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Jan. 27
Arrest: Officers near Interstate 80 took into custody 21-year-old Matthew A. Barnes, 104 S. Cedar Ave., Niles, who was wanted on a warrant from Girard Municipal Court accusing him of failing to appear in court.
Theft: A Trumbull Avenue man discovered several medications and his debit card missing from his home.
Jan. 28
Aggravated menacing: A Morris Avenue woman who took her two puppies outside alleged a neighbor had waved a handgun and threatened to kill the accuser and the two animals.
Harassment: A Steel Street woman reported a man made and sent about 350 unwanted calls and text messages, some containing implied threats.
Burglary: A 42-inch, flat-screen TV was taken from a residence in the 1000 block of Patricia Drive someone apparently had entered through a rear door.
Assault: Police responded to a fight in the 1200 block of Shannon Road between three males, though no charges were filed and it appeared no one had been injured.
Jan. 29
Theft: A North Avenue man noticed $40 had been removed from his wallet at his residence.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into J.P. Car Wash Inc., 603 Trumbull Ave., before taking an undisclosed amount of money from two change machines.
Menacing: A Church Hill Road man alleged his girlfriend’s father threatened to beat him up.
Burglary: To a mobile home in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue. A toolbox and several tools, along with $1,500, were stolen.
Harassment: A Crumlin Avenue man told police a cousin made such calls to him, including a threat to kill the accuser.
LIBERTY
Jan. 23
Domestic violence: John Kloos, 41, of 1209 Rose Ave., Girard, faced a felony count after a family member alleged Kloos had punched her face. She had slight swelling to the affected area.
Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 200 block of Goldie Road wearing a black hat and hooded sweat shirt and dark pants reportedly shoved a screwdriver into a sport utility vehicle’s door, broke a passenger-side window, stole a notepad and a calculator and fled in a maroon Oldsmobile vehicle toward Belmont Avenue.
Jan. 25
Arrest: Authorities investigating possible employee theft at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, took 22-year-old Aaron Reynolds into custody. Reynolds, of 25 Trumbull Court, Liberty, was wanted on a warrant from the Trumbull County 911 center charging him with failure to appear in court.
Burglary: Took place in the 5500 block of Sampson Road as someone tried to enter a garage and the home when a resident was home.
Jan. 27
Drugs: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive resulted in citations against Dwight E. Johnson, 19, of 4792 Vienna Ave., and Connor Mason, 20, of 4742 Michigan Blvd., when, police said, Mason and Johnson had 7 grams and 20 grams of suspected marijuana, respectively.
Arrest: Officers on Liberty Street pulled over and arrested 23-year-old Kathryn M. Unick, who listed a Youngstown post-office-box number. She was wanted by Boardman authorities on a felony warrant charging her with receiving stolen property.
Jan. 28
Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a 32-year-old Youngstown man after a Roosevelt Drive woman alleged he had pushed her into a wall during an argument. The victim complained of pain but had no visible injuries, police said.
Harassment: A Mill Run Drive woman said another woman harassed and threatened the accuser via text and voicemail messages and online.
Jan. 29
Theft: A bottle of prescription pills was missing from a vehicle in the 4200 block of Belmont Avenue.
Recovered property: Warren authorities found a 2008 Chrysler vehicle after a Monticello Boulevard woman reported a Warren man, 51, had used, but failed to return, her car.
