Golden String Radio will host an eclectic all-day music and arts festival Friday featuring more than a dozen acts. The event will begin at noon at ISLE Inc.’s Pearl Street Mission, 334 N. Pearl St., on the East Side.

Musical acts will include Rebreather, Modern Life, Baker, The Tullsen Brothers, Brady’s Leap and Geo C and Tha Storm. Also performing will be Tribe of Eos dancers and magician Bradley Barefoot. Beer and food will be sold.

The event will benefit Golden String Radio, an Internet station that uses ISLE clients as show hosts. ISLE offers programs for adults with developmental and other disabilities.

The goal, according to ISLE president Jimmy Sutman, is to gain members to support the Web station. A one-year membership is $60. Members will receive free admission, food and beer at the festival, plus special prices at the Royal Oaks bar, which is just two blocks away. Members also receive free promotional items and other perks throughout the year. Go to Goldenstringradio.org to learn more.

For nonmembers, admission will be $2.

“Our vibe for the evening is kind of ’70s lounge,” said Sutman. SDLqWe are renting some ’70s items from Greyland Gallery in downtown Youngstown to enhance the evening.”

Goldenstringradio.org will record the festival and replay it in its entirety Saturday and Sunday.

The Pearl Street Mission — originally built as a community-service building — is now used by ISLE for its programs, including Golden String Radio.

Friday’s festival will be in the building’s program room, which has a permanent stage facing the radio booth. A gym will be used for food, drink and promotional activities.

Food vendors will include Lee’s Backyard BBQ, Gordy’s Specialty Market and the Royal Oaks.
