Girard council approves 3-year pact with firefighters
GIRARD — City lawmakers have approved a new contract for Girard firefighters.
Council unanimously approved the contract during a meeting at city hall tonight.
The three-year contract, which expires Dec. 31, 2015, gives firefighters a 25-cent-an-hour pay raise in lieu of percentage-based increases.
The contract also waives monthly premiums employees must pay for health insurance, which equates to $360 a year for an employee with a family and $180 a year for a single employee. There is a co-pay for the firefighters for office visits and specialized medical care.
