YOUNGSTOWN

The annual Snowflake Ball, sponsored by Epsilon Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Regency House, 3704 Mahoning Ave., to raise funds for community outreach and the scholarship program.

The theme for the semiformal event is “Black and White.” Admission is $40 per person, which includes dinner and music by DJ Still Bill. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any sorority member.

The AKA scholarship program was initiated in 1950 with the first scholarship recipient receiving $50 to attend St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. Over the past 10 years more than $25,000 in scholarships has been awarded to high school seniors in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys.

Annie Constant is president of Epsilon Mu Omega chapter, and Shantal Edwards is president of Delta Delta undergraduate chapter at Youngstown State University.

The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, and to be of service to all mankind.
