POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Jan. 20

Criminal mischief: Four males tossed several eggs at a vehicle in the 200 block of East Wilson Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A rock was used to break a pantry window to a home in the 100 block of Crumlin Avenue.

Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular accident in the 100 block of East Broadway Avenue before citing 25-year-old Kyle J. Cretella, 665 Church Hill Road, Girard, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and failure to control a motor vehicle.

Robbery: A man who dropped off a passenger near South Lorain Avenue and Amhurst Street told authorities a gunman and another male, both in black hooded sweat shirts, knocked him unconscious, then stole his 1989 Buick Century vehicle and a cellphone. It was unclear, however, if the passenger was part of the crime.

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 100 block of Crumlin Avenue threw a large rock through a double-pane window and did $250 in damage.

Jan. 21

Menacing: A North Avenue woman said a neighbor made threats to harm her and other tenants.

Assault: Authorities responded to a fight in the 200 block of Church Hill Road, where two people reported having been struck in the throat and assaulted.

Jan. 22

Theft by deception: A Dearborn Street man who sold a $330 cellphone online reported the dissatisfied buyer, when given the option to return the item, instead sent the accuser a phone that was different than the one he originally had sold.

Arrests: Police responded to a disturbance on South Davis Street before charging Ashley Sellers, 18, and Elizabeth Sellers, 42, both of 402 S. Davis, Girard, with disorderly conduct. Both refused to calm down and continued to yell at officers and each other, a report showed.

Menacing/criminal mischief: A Trumbull Avenue woman told officers that a man had threatened to harm her and damage her home, and that she noticed damage to a rear door and window to her vehicle.

Burglary: Someone entered a garage in the 200 block of Moccasin Drive and removed a $500 snow blower.

LIBERTY

Jan. 18

Robbery: A man reported another man and a woman forced their way into his Roosevelt Drive apartment, slammed the accuser into a kitchen chair and took $63 and a bottle of prescription pills.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 3000 block of Northgate Drive after someone apparently pried open a storm window, ransacked the residence and removed a 32-inch flat-screen TV, a DVD player, a cable box, jewelry and other items.

Assault: A man being treated at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown for an injured left eye socket told authorities he was struck in the face while trying to stop a fight in the 4000 block of Belmont Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A 17-year-old Youngstown girl reportedly damaged two doors to a vehicle in the 2900 block of Oakland Drive.

Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 193 led to Derek L. Little’s arrest. Little, no age given, of 489 Idora Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on a warrant from Niles.

Assault/aggravated menacing: A Lynn Drive man reported an intoxicated man grabbed the accuser’s neck and threatened to cut his throat.

Fraud: A Holly Drive woman checking her bank account discovered two unauthorized charges totaling about $910 that evidently had originated in Dallas.

Arrest: While dealing with a fight at a Belmont Avenue store, police charged Javonna Flakes, 21, of 333 Mistletoe Ave., Youngstown, with obstructing official business. Cellphone video showed Flakes’ role in the fight, though she denied several times having been part of it, which impeded the investigation, authorities said.

Jan. 19

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 3000 block of Belmont Avenue resulted in misdemeanor charges of possession of dangerous drugs against 19-year-old John Rivers III, 3038 Green Acres Drive, Liberty, and 22-year-old Glen P. Watson, 4000 Logangate Road, Liberty. A bottle containing 61 tablets of Tramadol, a drug commonly prescribed for moderate to severe pain, with no prescription was found, police said.

Pursuit: After investigating a suspicious car in the 900 block of Colonial Drive, officers tried to stop the driver on a traffic violation, which led to a vehicular chase that was terminated near Ohio Avenue in Youngstown.

Jan. 20

Arrest: Officers investigating a suspicious person near Mosier Road took into custody Teon M. Thompson II, 19 Orchard Ave., Youngstown, on misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property, theft and criminal trespassing after police said the 18-year-old Thompson was found with Ohio Lottery tickets, cologne, loose change and other property matching that stolen from several vehicles on Park Circle.

Breaking and entering: A gaping hole in a side wall was discovered at Adam Eve Plumbing & Drain Co. Inc., 1196 Tibbetts-Wick Road, though it appeared nothing was missing.

Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 4000 block of Belmont Avenue broke a van’s window before stealing a flashlight, four extension cords and a tool.

Domestic violence/theft: Charges were pending against a 29-year-old Youngstown man after his girlfriend, of Roosevelt Drive, alleged he had assaulted her and took the accuser’s 46-inch flat-screen TV.

Jan. 21

Robbery: A driver for Ianazone’s Pizza, 4036 Belmont Ave., reported someone struck the back of his head as he made a delivery in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive, then stole his car, an iPhone and a bag containing an undisclosed sum of money.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a garage in the 2700 block of Merrill Road before stealing a 1991 Chevrolet truck, a 60-gallon air compressor and two welders, for an estimated loss of $3,700.

Theft: John R. Spears, 38, of 570 Third Ave., East Liverpool, and 25-year-old Katelyn A. Evans of Weirton, W.Va., were charged with stealing $521 worth of clothing and other merchandise from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Theft/drugs: Charges were pending against a Youngstown boy, 17, after he reportedly stole a package of condoms from Walmart and had three small bags of suspected marijuana.

Harassment: Someone made about 30 unwanted and rude calls to a Belmont Avenue restaurant.

Domestic violence: Calvin B. Cole Jr., 28, of 1208 Grant St., Warren, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend, of West Montrose Street, alleged Cole had struck her nose during an argument. The accuser was bleeding profusely, a report said.

Jan. 22

Theft: A $9,000 generator was removed from the bed of a truck in the 2700 block of Merrill Road.

Theft: A man reported three nail guns stolen from a home in the 2800 block of Youngstown-Hubbard Road. The loss came to $765.
