Job fair set for Feb. 4

Mill Creek Metroparks will have a job fair Feb. 4 at Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., for job opportunities within the park.
Representatives from the horticulture, maintenance, recreation, police and golf departments will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. to answer questions about seasonal job opportunities for 2013 in the MetroParks. Applications will be taken at that time.

The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will have its monthly meeting Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd. Social time and refreshments will begin at 6 p.m., with a business meeting to follow at 6:30. All residents are encouraged to attend for the election of new officers for 2013. The meeting also will focus on informing and involving residents in the improvement and protection of the neighborhood.
A police officer will attend and Councilman John R. Swierz, D-7th, will report on issues and problems in the area.
Lifeguard class

The Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, offers American Red Cross lifeguard-certification classes and teaches individuals to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illness. Participants must be 15 years old. Classes will be offered March 1 and 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. and March 2 and 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $200; registration deadline is Feb. 25.
