Historical society sets 2013 meeting schedule

Members of the Poland Historical Society celebrated the Christmas season together at the Little Red Schoolhouse with a potluck dinner while reminiscing about past activities and planning for the future.

Following dinner was the final meeting of 2012 with President Ed Virostek introducing newly-elected officers for 2013: Ed Virostek, president; Laurie Fox, vice president; Pepper McGarry, treasurer; Sue Holloway, secretary; and trustees Larry Baughman, Ted Heineman, Ginny Meloy, Dave Smith, Sara Hill Strock and Pete Sturbi.

Regular meetings in 2013 will be on the third Tuesday of each month at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road (Route 224) at the Struthers Road intersection, at 7 p.m. Each meeting will be followed by a program focusing on the history of the Poland community.

The schedule for the remainder of the year is Feb. 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19 and Dec. 17.
