YOUNGSTOWN

The Center for Nonprofit Leadership at Youngstown State University, housed in the Williamson College of Business Administration, has been awarded a $55,000 grant from The Raymond John Wean Foundation to implement the second Summer Honors Internship Program in this summer.

The Nonprofit Leadership Summer Honors Internship Program is a full-time, 12-week internship program designed to provide 12 students with career-related work experience in a nonprofit or public-sector organization.

The internship program runs from May 20 to Aug. 9.

Students will earn $10 an hour, collecting a total of $4,800 during the program.

The funding will support $3,800, or 80 percent, of the student’s internship stipend.

The remaining $1,000 will be paid by the employer or organization.

On a weekly rotation, each organization will host a site visit, tour and professional development seminar for all students participating in the program.

All regional nonprofit and public-sector organizations interested in receiving a full-time, co-funded intern for the summer are encouraged to apply.

The award of a co-funded intern will be limited to nonprofit and public-sector organizations serving Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties.

Funding for the initiative is made available through The Raymond John Wean Foundation; all organizations selected to participate in the internship program must have a mission and/or programs that fall under one of the foundation’s Issue Priorities, which are early childhood (0-5), educational opportunity, economic opportunity, community revitalization, and public and civic sector leadership.

Organization applications are due Feb. 15. For information, contact Laura McCaskey by calling 330-941-1870 or emailing LJMcCaskey@ysu.edu.
