Tickets to Major League Baseball games, autographed baseballs and custom YSU hardwood articles will be among the auction items at the Youngstown State baseball program’s first pitch breakfast at McMenamy’s in Niles on Jan. 26.
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle and Major League umpire Wally Bell will be the featured speakers.

The Youngstown State University Athletic Department will host the fifth annual Basketball Kid’s Day, presented by Panera Bread, at Stambaugh Stadium on January 26.
The free event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in the gymnasium in Stambaugh Stadium.
Following the Kid’s Day, the YSU men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in action at the Beeghly Center.

On a night Andrew Smith scored 15 points and Kellen Dunham added 11, the Bulldogs completely bottled up Richmond’s shooters and rebounders and pulled away for a 62-47 victory in their first Atlantic 10 home game.
Meanwhile, Randal Holt scored 27 points and Chris Evans added 25 points and 14 rebounds as Kent State pulled away late in an 80-68 victory over Buffalo Wednesday night.
Also Earnest Ross scored 15 points while surviving two spills, helping No. 17 Missouri rebound with a 79-62 victory over Georgia on Wednesday night.
Still in the top 25 Alex Len dropped in a missed shot by teammate Pe’Shon Howard with 00.9 seconds left, giving Maryland a 51-50 victory over No. 14 North Carolina State.
Wrestlers in action
Eleven area high school wrestling teams begin their work on Jan. 23 in the inaugural OHSAA Wrestling Team Tournament.
Regional quarterfinals are scheduled Wednesday with winners advancing to the Regional semifinals on Jan. 30.
Teams will have to win two matches that night to reach the Regional final on Feb. 6.
Winners of eight Regionals around the state advance to the state tournament Feb. 9 at St. John Arena in Columbus.
