Shauntare R. Davis, 25, of East Avondale Avenue, Youngstown, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to aggravated robbery and felonious assault and was sentenced to three years in prison.
Davis and Christopher L. Foster, 19, of Transylvania Avenue, Warren, robbed and assaulted a 39-year-old Niles man who went to the Trumbull Homes apartments at 1:36 a.m. Aug. 5 looking for his wife’s car.
Davis and Foster were among men who pulled the victim out of his car at the intersection of North Feederle and South Feederle avenues and assaulted him, leaving him with injuries to his head and hand. Two of the men had handguns. The men also left with the Niles man’s car.
Foster pleaded guilty to the same charges as Davis Dec. 27 and also was sentenced to three years in prison.
Police arrested Davis and Foster at 3:59 a.m. Aug. 5 after police were called to the apartment complex again, this time finding Davis and Foster and finding a pellet gun in a garbage can near Davis and finding a stun gun on Foster.
Police realized Davis and Foster matched the description the victim of the carjacking had given of his assailants. Police also found keys to the victim’s car in Davis’ pocket and found the stolen car not far away, said Mike Burnett, assistant Trumbull County prosecutor.
