Anas, Larsson score twice against Stars

LINCOLN, NEB.

Sam Anas and Alfred Larsson each scored two goals to the lead the Youngstown Phantoms to Saturday’s 5-2 victory over the Lincoln Stars.

Goaltenders Sean Romeo and Jake Moore combined for 33 saves as the Phantoms (16-16-0, 32) reached the .500 mark at the halfway point of the regular season.

Romeo and Stars starting goalie Michael Bitzer were ejected for fighting in the second period.

The Phantoms won both games on this road trip — Friday, they defeated the Chicago Steel, 3-2.

In his second game with the team, Nathan Walker earned his first USHL assist, setting up Anas’ goal in the first period.

Anas’ second goal came on the power play. It was set up by Austin Cangelosi and Cam Brown, giving Youngstown a 2-0 lead against the Stars (19-10-3, 41 points).

Daniel Renouf and John Padulo assisted on Larsson’s first goal. Larrson’s other goal was an empty-netter.

Kyle Connor scored the other Youngstown goal, a power-play tally set up by Tommy Davis that gave Youngstown a 4-1 lead in the third period.

The Phantoms will be home next weekend to play the Des Moines Buccaneers.
