TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie showed this week that he’s at the top of his game. He appeared on the morning talk show circuit and earned the cover of Time magazine.

Democrats are left wondering if there’s anyone else in their party willing to take him on in November.

Democratic State Committee Chairman John Wisniewski says he’s “antsy” for a decision by the fence-sitters, Senate President Stephen Sweeney and former Gov. Dick Codey.

Congressman Bill Pascrell all but took himself out of the race by telling Politickernj.com he’s “not pursuing that position.”

Sen. Barbara Buono is the only major Democrat to declare her candidacy, but she’s not the first choice of establishment Democrats.

Democrats began scrambling for an alternative after Newark Mayor Cory Booker decided not to run.
