Canfield boys swimmers win NEAC title

The Canfield High School swim team competed at the Northeast Aquatic Conference (NEAC) Championships with much success Jan. 4. The boys team took first place and their coach, Andrea Linnelli, was named the NEAC Championship Boys Coach of the Year.

Connor Brady took first in the 100 backstroke and second in the 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, and 200 free relay. Daniel Bogen had a second-place finish in the 200 free relay and third-place in the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 400 freestyle relay.

Kyle Anderson took second in the 200 medley relay and third in the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle races. Nicky Montalto took second in the 200 freestyle relay with third-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 400 free relay. Michael DiDomenico took second in the 200 medley relay and third in the 400 free relay. Mike Cardone took second in the 200 free relay and third in the 400 free relay. Coming in with second-place finishes were Adam Weiss (200 medley relay) and Drew Bennett (500 freestyle).

The girls team finished third at the conference meet. Leading the team with her first-place finish in diving was Ally Chiu. Sarah Heaven saw success with second-place finishes in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke and third-place finishes in the 400 free and 200 medley relays.

Mallory Allen took third in the 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle, and 400 medley relay races. Olivia Williamson placed third in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay races. Third-place finishes were also seen by Theresa Mikolay (200 medley relay) and Briana O’Malley (400 free relay).
