A Woodland Trace woman was charged Tuesday with one count each of assault inciting to violence and nine counts each of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and endangering children, after a neighbor called police upon seeing several carloads of teenagers arriving at the home. All of the charges are misdemeanors.
When police arrived, they heard a disturbance inside the garage and saw the homeowner, Patsy Higgins, assaulting a teenager.
The incident remains under investigation, however, the bond for the female homeowner is $25,000.
Boy, 16, arrested
WARREN
A 16-year-old Youngstown boy was arrested Tuesday morning on Stillwagon Road in Howland after a car and foot chase stemming from a call about a stolen car.
The owner of a 1990 Chevrolet truck reported it stolen from the parking lot at the Jamestown Village Plaza on Mahoning Avenue at about 10:30 a.m.
Warren police located the truck headed east on Atlantic Street Northeast and attempted to make a traffic stop at North Road and East Market Street, but the driver fled on state Route 82 east and then onto Route 11 south.
The boy got out of the car and fled on foot, followed by two Warren officers, who captured him on Stillwagon Road just west of Route 11.
He was taken to the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center.
Relay For Life kickoff event set for Sunday
AUSTINTOWN
Kickoff for Austintown’s American Cancer Society 2013 Relay For Life is Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Austintown Community Church, 242 South Canfield-Niles Road (state Route 46).
The Austintown Relay is from 6 p.m. June 7 to 6 p.m. June 8 at Austintown Fitch High School.
At the kickoff, residents can register, get the information needed to start a team, and learn about events that take place at Relay, and attend breakout sessions on Relay For Life 101 and fund raising.
Relay For Life is a community event that honors cancer survivors, cancer patients and caregivers, pays tribute to those who have lost their battle with cancer, and raises money for research.
This year, relay participants never diagnosed with cancer can participate in Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3), a cancer research study.
