FRACTURING FACTS
Height of Halcon drilling rig: 136 feet.
Number of people working at one time at a Halcon rig: 20 to 25.
Number of people who typically live on site during the approximately 30-day drilling and hydraulic fracturing period: six to 10.
Definition of hydraulic fracturing: A controlled process that forces water, sand and small amounts of chemicals — including a substance similar to dishwashing liquid — into oil and natural gas wells to create tiny cracks in the shale rock formation. The cracks allow the oil and natural gas to flow into the well bore and be collected at the surface.
