Boil advisory lifted

The Trumbull County sanitary engineer’s department lifted a boil-water advisory for its customers in Liberty, Brookfield and Vienna, east of state Route 11 and north of Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

The alert was issued Thursday after a break on a 16-inch waterline on Niles Vienna Road.

Test samples Saturday afternoon show the water is safe, according to a statement from the sanitary engineer’s department.

Route 224 tie-up

BOARDMAN

A Youngstown Water Department crew spent several hours repairing a waterline break on U.S. Route 224, causing traffic tie-ups along one of the area’s busiest roads.

The break happened late Saturday afternoon between the Shops at Boardman Park and the Southern Boulevard intersection, and reduced westward traffic in that area to one lane.

“Anytime you work on 224, it’s a mess,” said Eugene Leson Jr., chief engineer for the Youngstown Water Department, which provides water to that area.
