Wilmington sophomore dies in crash, to be honored at tonight's game
NEW WILMINGTON, PA.
Students and others attending tonight’s Wilmington Area High School basketball game are encouraged to wear white in honor of Shane McQuiston, a 15-year-old sophomore who died in a car accident Friday night.
McQuiston of Garner Road was a passenger in a red Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Ethan Seeber, a 17-year-old senior, which flipped onto its roof at 9:30 p.m. Friday on South Valley View Road in Pulaski Township and landed in Deer Creek, said township police.
Seeber, of Conestoga Trail, is in stable condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Police said Seeber told them he swerved to avoid hitting a deer in the road, causing the vehicle to go off the roadway, over an embankment and into the creek.
The Wilmington team is playing a home game tonight, starting at 7:30 p.m. All students will be admitted to the game at no cost, but several plan to contribute the regular ticket fee, $2, or more with proceeds to be donated to McQuiston’s family. Also, before the game, the school will honor the memory of McQuiston.
