Water break ties up traffic on Route 224 in Boardman today

A Youngstown Water Department crew spent several hours this afternoon repairing a waterline break on U.S. Route 224, causing traffic tie-ups along one of the area’s busiest roads.

The break happened this afternoon near Shops at Boardman Park and the Southern Boulevard intersection, and reduced westward traffic nearby to one lane.

“Anytime you work on 224, it’s a mess,” said Eugene Leson Jr., chief engineer for the Youngstown Water Department, which provides water to that area.
