Woman dead in western Pa. house fire, another hurt

BIG BEAVER, Pa. (AP) — A woman is dead and her live-in male companion was hurt after flames swept through their western Pennsylvania home.

Fire officials in Big Beaver, about 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, say the fire was reported about 2 a.m. Thursday.

Crews say they found the woman dead in the home but say the man got out, though he was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital because of burns and smoke inhalation.

A state police fire marshal has been trying to determine the cause of the fire.
