Hicks: Law restricting hours for retired workers doesn't apply to elected officials

WARREN

Greg Hicks, Warren’s law director, says a 1984 Warren ordinance that prevents Warren employees from working more than 20 hours per week if they come back to work after retiring isn’t applicable to elected officials.

Hicks, Auditor David Griffing and Warren Municipal Court Judge Thomas Gysegem have filed required

paperwork with the Trumbull County Board of Elections indicating that they intended to retire.

Hicks and Griffing both filed letters in mid-2011 indicating they would retire at the end of 2011. Judge Gysegem’s letter doesn’t give an intended retirement date.
