Firefighters are investigating a blaze that gutted the Knights of Columbus Hall on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, a police officer on patrol near Center Street spotted flames shooting through the roof shortly after 6 a.m.
Mike Agnone, an engineer with the fire department, said crews were on the scene within minutes. With the help of the Campbell Fire Department, the fire was contained after 90 minutes, said Agnone.
He said no one was injured during the fire, but the building was completely gutted. Agnone said there was a New Year’s Eve party the night before, but foul play is not suspected.

New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., is accepting orders for Smart Choice food from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 10 and 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 14. Boxes will include meat, vegetables, convenience meals, kids box and breakfast box, and prices will range from $19 to $36. There are no income restrictions or guidelines.
Preorder and prepay with cash, money order or Ohio Direction Card. Mail orders will be accepted until Jan. 11. Mail orders will be accepted with payment of postal or bank money order or certified check made out to New Hope United Methodist Church. To receive a receipt, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Online orders at www.smartchoicefood.com will close at 6 p.m. Jan. 16. A 3 percent handling fee will be added to all online orders.
The food will be distributed from 9 to 10 a.m. Jan. 26. A community breakfast will be served during the distribution from 9 to 10:30 a.m. For information, call 330-652-3625.
Nature workshop
CHAMPION
Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District will conduct a Growing Up WILD nature workshop for formal and nonformal educators from 8 to 11 a.m. Feb. 1 at the Trumbull Career and Technical Center on Educational Highway.
The workshop is for those working with children ages 3 to 6. The activities encourage positive impressions of nature while aiding the cognitive growth and development of preschoolers. Project WILD activity guides are provided free of charge by the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
