YWCA to honor high school seniors

The YWCA of Youngstown will honor 27 area high school seniors at its 19th annual Young Women with Bright Futures Awards ceremony at 10 a.m. March 9 at the Holiday Inn.

Each year the YWCA recognizes young women who have demonstrated a commitment to serving their schools, communities, and families. Senior high school women are selected by their school teachers or administrators for their leadership qualities, academic excellence, creativity and volunteerism.

2013 Bright Futures Honorees are: Emily Fisher Austintown Fitch; Nicole Pavlansky, Boardman; Mary Van Jura, Campbell Memorial; Abby Baker, Canfield; Gianna Parella, Cardinal Mooney; Jonelle McIntyre, Chaney; Charisse Brown, Choffin Career and Technical Center; Shannon Sharp, East; Elisabeth Winston, Girard; Kailyn Hill, Hubbard; Greta Frost, Jackson-Milton; Shamara Golden, Liberty; Martha Zimmerman, Lowellville; Savannah Heeter, Mahoning County Career and Technical Center; Kristin LaTessa, McDonald; Jacklynn Smith, Mineral Ridge; Lauren Misik, Niles McKinley; Madeleine Queen, Poland Seminary; Elaina Jurica, Sebring McKinley; Monica Patrick, South Range; Gabrielle Fellows, Springfield; Allison Guerrieri, Struthers; Lea Carroll, Ursuline; Valerie Weingart, West Branch; Gabriella Marinescu, Western Reserve; Shanell Harris, Youngstown Christian; and Shienne Williams, Youngstown Early College.

Cryshanna A. Jackson is chairwoman of the event. Meghan Louttit, multimedia producer of New York Times and former 2004 Bright Futures Honoree, will be the keynote speaker.
