Basketball event

The Sink for Pink 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament to benefit the Joanie Abdu Breast Cancer Center at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center is March 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Campbell Elementary and Middle School, 2002 Community Circle.

The event includes an auction, 50/50 raffle, concession stand, free face painting and bouncer for kids, free photo booth from noon to 2 p.m., coloring contest, Aut Mori Grotto Clowns and vendors.

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter is creating a new Caregiver Support Group beginning Tuesday at Valley- Care Health System’s Northside Medical Center, 500 Gypsy Lane. The group will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. in Classroom A. There is no charge to attend, and no registration is required.

Bowling fundraiser

BOARDMAN

The Boardman Community Fund is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Bowling Bash fundraiser, sponsored by Gem Young Insurance and Financial Services, on March 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Camelot Lanes, 628 Boardman-Canfield Road, to benefit the fund’s scholarship program for Boardman High School students.

Tickets can be purchased for $10 at the door or in advance from BHS Interact students. Music is provided by Y103. For information, call Deborah Liptak at 330-726-2921.

The BCF, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, also is seeking applications for its 2013 scholarship selection process. The fund offers two $1,750 scholarships for students who are high school seniors and Boardman residents. Applications are available on the foundation’s website, www.cfmv.org, or call 330-743-5555. The deadline to apply is March 31.

Beatitude grant

Beatitude House received a $3,300 grant from the Diocese of Ohio Episcopal Community Services to support the Child Advocacy Program in Youngstown.

A House of Blessing provides homeless women and children a place to live while they work to gain stability and achieve permanent housing.

The Child Advocacy program focuses on the needs of the children in residence and ensures children are provided the services they need, including counseling, tutoring and enrichment activities.
