New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., is accepting orders for Smart Choice food from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, 7 to 8 p.m. March 7 and 11 a.m. to noon March 11.

Boxes include meat, vegetables, convenience meals, lunch box, breakfast box, burger box and a special Easter box. Prices range from $24 to $36. There are no income restrictions or guidelines. Pre-order and pre-pay with cash, money order or Ohio Direction Card. Mail orders will be accepted until March 8 with payment of postal or bank money orders or certified check made payable to New Hope United Methodist Church.

To receive a receipt, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Online orders at smartchoicefood.com will close at 6 p.m. March 13. A 3 percent handling fee will be added to all online orders.

Boxes will be distributed from 9 to 10 a.m. March 23. During the distribution, a community breakfast will be served from 9 to 10:30 a.m. For information, call 330-652-3625.

Kidnapping report

Police continue their investigation of a reported kidnapping.

According to a report, an 18-year-old man was walking in the 300 block of Mathews Road when two men in a red pickup truck pulled up next to him about 5 p.m. Friday.

The passenger reportedly forced the victim into the vehicle and repeatedly punched his face as the truck traveled west on Mathews before stopping on Southern Boulevard, where the victim was pushed out of the vehicle, the report shows.

The abductor was described as in his early 20s and 5 feet 11 inches tall with brown hair, the report said. The victim told police he had never before seen the two men and that he felt the attack was random.

Neighbors to meet

Youngstown

The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will have its monthly meeting Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd. The meeting begins with refreshments and social time at 6 p.m. with a business meeting to follow at 6:30 p.m.

Councilman John R. Swierz, D-7th, will attend to address and report on area issues. Residents of the Brownlee Woods neighborhood are urged to attend to be involved in the planning of 2013 projects. All meetings are open to the public.
