Cops: Grandma shot self, young grandsons in car

PRESTON, Conn. (AP) — The staff at a Connecticut daycare center where a woman picked up her two grandsons before apparently killing them in a double murder-suicide says she gave no signs of distress.

Center director Nikki Salaun says Debra Denison was friendly and talkative when she arrived Tuesday afternoon to collect 2-year-old Alton Perry and 6-month-old Ashton Perry.

The bodies of Denison and the two children were later found with gunshot wounds in a car in the neighboring town of Preston. Family members say Denison had a history of mental health problems.

The staff at the Kidds & Co. daycare center in North Stonington says Denison was on the list of people authorized to pick up the children.

A state police spokeswoman says Denison left a suicide note but declined to say where it was found.
