Mahoning Coroner: 91-year-old died of heart attack

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County coroner has determined the elderly man found dead along Salt Springs Road on Friday died of “an acute coronary event.”

James LaRubbio, 91, of Austintown, was found by a Youngstown police officer on patrol at about 8 a.m. The officer noticed a car sitting far off the roadway along Salt Springs Road. When the officer went to check the car, he found LaRubbio’s body not far from where the car was parked.

The coroner, in a press release, said there is no evidence LaRubbio froze to death or met with any violence. He also ruled out death from the apparent car accident.
