Police: SUV in Vegas shooting is found

las vegas

A black Range Rover SUV sought in a deadly Las Vegas Strip shooting and crash was found Saturday at an apartment complex east of the famed tourist destination, as police identified a 26-year-old man as a suspect.

Police Capt. Chris Jones said authorities were searching for Ammar Harris, whose previous arrests in the city included counts of kidnapping and pandering, the legal charge for a person who is caught soliciting clients for a prostitute.

Police had been looking for the SUV since Thursday, when it was involved in a shooting that sent a Maserati into a taxi that exploded, killing three people.

The Maserati’s driver, aspiring rapper Kenny Cherry, died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Taxi driver Michael Boldon of Las Vegas, and his passenger, Sandra Sutton-Wasmund of Maple Valley, Wash., died when the Maserati struck them and caused the taxi to explode in a fiery crash.

Iran: ‘Enemy drone’ has been captured

tehran, iran

Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard said Saturday that it had captured a foreign unmanned aircraft during a military exercise in southern Iran.

Gen. Hamid Sarkheili, a spokesman for the military exercise, said the Guard’s electronic warfare unit spotted signals indicating that foreign drones were trying to enter Iranian airspace.

Sarkheili said Guard experts took control of one drone’s navigation system and brought it down near the city of Sirjan where military drills began Saturday.

Sarkheili did not say whether the drone was American.

In Washington, a CIA spokeswoman declined to comment on the report.

Egypt opposition leader seeks boycott

cairo

Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei called Saturday for a boycott of parliamentary elections, drawing immediate criticism from some within his movement who said it was a hasty decision.

The dispute showed the fragility of a fairly new opposition front forged after the deeply fragmented movement found little success at the polls since it led the 2011 uprising that ousted autocrat Hosni Mubarak.

Opposition infighting would only help ensure that the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood group remains Egypt’s dominant political force after the next vote.

Razzies put bite on ‘Twilight’ sequel

los angeles

The “Twilight” team finally has earned some love — or loathing — from Team Razzies.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” was picked Saturday as 2012’s worst picture by the Razzies, an Academy Awards spoof that hands out prizes for Hollywood’s lousiest movies on the eve of the Oscars.

The finale to the blockbuster supernatural romance dominated the Razzies with seven awards, including worst actress for Kristen Stewart, supporting actor for Taylor Lautner, director for Bill Condon and worst screen couple for Lautner and child co-star Mackenzie Foy.

Adam Sandler was named worst actor for the raunchy comedy “That’s My Boy,” his second-straight win after 2011’s “Jack and Jill,” which swept all 10 Razzie categories.

Pop singer Rihanna won worst supporting actress for the action dud “Battleship.”
