Joseph M. Mersol, of New York Life, has earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

The CAP program provides professionals in the nonprofit and financial-services fields with the knowledge and tools needed to help clients reach their charitable giving objectives.

The Electric Power Research Institute recently named a team of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company employees as winners of the annual Technology Transfer award.

The award recognizes successful research, development and implementation of technology solutions that benefit the electric power industry.

Members of the award-winning FENOC team include: Tammie Nicoletti Bever, Tyrone Turner and John Zanetta, all from the Beaver Valley Power Station; David Eldred and Michael Kaminski of Castalia from the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station; Robert Fundis and Paul Gant from the Perry Nuclear Power Plant; and Archie Proffit from FENOC fleet maintenance in Akron.

Gregory D. Ellis has been promoted to senior manufacturing consultant for North America at the Solving Efeso Consulting Co.

Solving Efeso has offices in London, Milan, Paris and throughout South America. Ellis is a graduate of Newton Falls High School, Youngstown State University and The University of Akron.

real estate

Barbara George has joined Remax/Valley Real Estate as a sales agent. George previously held real-estate and title insurance licenses in Florida before returning to Youngstown.

She is a member of the Youngstown-Columbiana Association of Realtors, Ohio Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.

Banking & Finance

The PNC Financial Services Group board of directors has elected William S. Demchak to succeed James E. Rohr as president and chief executive officer.

PNC expects Demchak to become president and chief executive officer and Rohr to assume his new position as executive chairman April 23.

construction

Three local companies have joined the Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Imperial Glazing Concepts of Niles, Seal Master Pavement Products of Hillsville, Pa., and Farmers National Bank of Canfield are the newest installments. The builders association serves 15 various skilled trades in the region and is an ongoing resource for union construction contractors across the Mahoning Valley and in parts of Pennsylvania.

Jeff Barber was re-elected president of the Mahoning Valley chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association at its annual election meeting. He will serve a second one-year term as the group’s leader.

Barber, who has held MVNECA board positions for the past five years, is vice president of VEC S.I. Low Voltage Solutions, a division of VEC Inc.
