Purse-snatcher ID’d

WARREN

Police say they received numerous phone calls identifying the man shown in a photograph published in The Vindicator Friday as Mykael Zolovick, 22, of Kinsman.

As a result, police filed a warrant for Zolovick’s arrest in Warren Municipal Court, charging him with felony theft.

The picture was taken from security footage of a man police say snatched a purse from an elderly woman in front of the Giant Eagle supermarket on Elm Road Northeast at 1:51 p.m. Feb. 9.

As of Friday afternoon, Zolovick had not been arrested, according to court officials.

Police said the thief left with another man in a silver Pontiac G6.

Child-sex conviction

WARREN

A jury found James M. Plevyak II, 29, of Idylwild Street Northeast, guilty of three counts of gross sexual imposition Friday afternoon in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

The jury found him innocent on a fourth count. Gabe Wildman, assistant county prosecutor, dismissed a count of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles before the case went to the jury.

Plevyak will be sentenced at a later date.

Judge W. Wyatt McKay revoked Plevyak’s bond, placing him in the county jail to await sentencing.

Prosecutors say Plevyak molested a 10-year-old boy he baby-sat at Plevyak’s home and the boy’s home in Niles.
