Ohio police investigate body found in ravine

NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a ravine in central Ohio.

Newark police say two boys found the body Friday close to a creek near an overpass on the city’s east side.

Police Sgt. David Haren says the woman’s body had signs of injury to the head. She was found face-down among the large rocks lining the creek.

Police said they are treating the death as a homicide, but are not ruling out other possibilities pending an autopsy. They say the body is believed to have been in the ravine less than 24 hours.

Police today said they could not confirm the woman's identity.
