The Diocese of Youngstown’s Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry is offering the class, “The Component of Evangelization,” from March 8-22.

The Youth Ministry Online Training program is for adults who work with middle-school, high-school and college-age youths, whether in a parish, school or club setting.

Students from the diocese will join with students from the Diocese of Raleigh, N.C., to share ideas with adults in youth ministry in a different area of the country via discussion boards and a live webinar session.

The primary professor will be Dr. Charlotte McCorquodale, who co-founded Ministry Training Source, an organization committed to the education and formation of ministry leaders by providing customized ministry formation solutions. She earned a doctorate from the School of Human Resource Education and Workforce Development at Louisiana State University. McCorquodale is an international educator, researcher, and consultant in lay ecclesial ministry, youth ministry, and e-learning.

Based on the National Standards for Lay Ecclesial Ministry Youth Ministry Specialization, this program consists of 12 modules to provide tools for meaningful ministries for youths. The program is built sequentially, but students can start with any course, except No. 12. Students may take as many or as few modules as desired.

This class is approved for 10 general hours by the Diocesan Office of Religious Education. Fees are $40 per module to include access to the online materials, assistance with technology as needed, and facilitation by Ministry Training Source-trained facilitators, plus $15 for a course book ($55 total cost). Students seeking college credit take three modules per semester to comprise a course for $110, plus tuition rates, plus $45 for course books.

The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry serves as a resource for faith communities in the diocese in providing outreach to high school teens and young adults. For information, call Cindee Case at 330-744-8451.
