Bond was set at $100,000 Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court for Matthew I. Slusher, 21, of Housel Craft Road in Mecca Township, who was indicted last week on a felonious-assault charge.

Slusher, who entered an innocent plea before Judge Ronald Rice, is accused of pointing an assault rifle several times at Champion police officer Jeff White Oct. 3, 2012, while White and Trumbull County sheriff’s deputies were at his house for a domestic-violence call.

Also arraigned was Sharon R. Vankanegan, 48, of State Street, Kinsman, charged with four counts of forgery and one count of misuse of credit cards relating to her work at the Kinsman Free Library from August 2010 to January 2012.

Bond was set at $2,500 for Vankanegan, who pleaded innocent.

Meanwhile, Ronald Meyers, 54, of U.S. Route 422 in Southington, pleaded innocent to felony operating a motor vehicle impaired and a specification that he’s been convicted of OVI seven previous times.

If convicted, he will get from two years to 61/2 years in prison, including one to five years for having had six or more OVIs in the last 20 years, said Mike Burnett, assistant Trumbull County prosecutor.

Meyers refused to take a blood-alcohol test when he was arrested Aug. 4, 2012, on Geauga Portage Easterly Road in West Farmington.

He was slumped over the wheel of his car when a Trumbull County sheriff’s deputy found him, reports said.

Deputies had to break open a window to determine what was wrong with him, according to a police report.

Daryl Ruiter, 26, of 649 state Route 305 in Cortland, was sentenced to 16 months in prison Thursday after pleading guilty in January to one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl in 2012.

Ruiter will have to register as a sex offender for 25 years. He also will be on probation five years after he leaves prison.
