Police probe shooting of 2 dogs

CHESTER SPRINGS, Pa. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of two dogs at a home in Chester County earlier this month.

Investigators say a neighbor shot the two Bernese mountain dogs with a shotgun Feb. 12 in West Vincent Township after he saw them near his sheep. Prosecutors say they haven’t filed charges against the neighbor because of a state law that says a person may kill any dog seen in the act of “pursuing or wounding or killing” a domestic animal.

But the dogs’ owner, Mary Block, says her dogs, Argus and Fiona, hadn’t touched the neighbor’s sheep.

First Assistant District Attorney Michael Noone says authorities have gotten new information in the case and are continuing to investigate.
