POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty:

LIBERTY

Feb. 15

Drugs: A traffic stop on Interstate 80 led to a marijuana-possession charge against 20-year-old Larry D. Schulte III, 740 state Route 7, Brookfield. Schulte, who police said had two bags of suspected marijuana, also was wanted on a felony probation-violation charge related to one count of drug trafficking.

Drugs: Suspicious activity in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue. Warson S. Smith, 19, 540 Parkman Road, Warren, was charged with one misdemeanor count of trafficking in marijuana. Smith dropped five bags of suspected marijuana, a report showed.

Theft: A woman in her 20s wearing a pair of pink pajama bottoms grabbed an undisclosed sum of money and fled on foot from Belmont Sweeps, 3103 Belmont Ave.

Drugs: Police in the 900 block of Colonial Drive stopped 24-year-old Antwan D. Chilton, 4876 Westchester Drive, Austintown, and charged him with possession of dangerous drugs and driving under suspension after saying Chilton had two pill bottles, one with no label and the other with someone else’s name.

Drugs: James H. Bargainier, 37, 2019 Pointview Ave., Youngstown, faced charges of aggravated trafficking in marijuana and possession of criminal tools after having been pulled over on Fifth Avenue. Bargainier had a digital scale, several bags of suspected marijuana weighing 164.6 grams, police said.

Feb. 16

Arrest: Police responded to a house alarm in the 3300 block of Cardinal Drive, where they arrested 25-year-old Keyshara McPeters, 83 Jean St., Campbell. She was wanted on a warrant charging her with failing to appear in court.

Stolen property: Authorities responded to someone attempting to pass a stolen check at Home Savings and Loan, 3500 Belmont Ave., before charging Antoinette M. Digiacinto, 27, of 166 N. Beverly Ave., Austintown, with receiving stolen property and criminal simulation after a Campbell man discovered someone had stolen a box of personal checks and cashed one for $175.

Drugs: After being advised of a robbery and conducting a traffic stop in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue, authorities charged 25-year-old Michele A. Zandarski, 325 N. Turner Road, Youngstown, with possession of cocaine, heroin and drug possession, and 27-year-old Shawn M. Villers, 5653 Stanford Ave., Youngstown, with cocaine possession. Neither was charged in the robbery, however, a report showed.

Domestic violence: Elmer D. Luke, 48, of 5230 Logan Arms Drive, Liberty, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged Luke had shoved the accuser, causing her to fall, and ripped an undergarment during an argument.

Assault: An employee with Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, told officers an unruly 16-year-old patient pulled out some of the accuser’s hair, scratched her abdomen area, injured her left knee and broke her eyeglasses.

Theft: A Newton Falls woman reported her cellphone stolen while in the 400 block of East Montrose Street.

Feb. 17

Drugs: Summons issued charging 19-year-old Vincent L. Sherman with drug abuse. Sherman, of 24 Pinehurst Ave., Youngstown, had a bag of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana cigar, police said.

Drugs: Police on Belmont Avenue pulled over Toriano S. Haines of 614 St. Louis Ave., Youngstown, and charged him with one felony count of cocaine possession. Haines, 29, who also was charged with driving under suspension, had a bag of suspected crack cocaine, a report said.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Logan Way led to a drug-abuse charge against 33-year-old Brian R. Dawan after police said Dawan, of 3003 Green Acres Drive, Liberty, had 4.1 grams of suspected marijuana in his pants.

Feb. 18

Robbery: Michael A. Porschien, 23, of 830 Ohio Ave., Youngstown, faced a robbery charge after a pair of mechanics gloves was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. A store official who tried to detain Porschien alleged he had grabbed the accuser’s throat during a physical altercation and in an effort to escape.

Theft: A worker for an excavating business discovered four sets of 25,000-pound brackets missing from a work site near I-80. The loss came to $2,076.

Arrest: Authorities received a tip about a wanted person at a Motor Inn Drive motel, where they took into custody 24-year-old Brandon L. Taylor, 1213 Negley St., Farrell, Pa., wanted on several felony warrants. Charges included forgery and distribution of an hallucinogen.

Feb. 19

Breaking and entering: Police found signs of forced entry to a garage and the residence in the 3400 block of Hadley Avenue. Two vehicles had been ransacked, though nothing appeared to be missing from the home.

Feb. 20

Recovered property: Youngstown police found a 2004 Ford vehicle after a man had reported it stolen while at a Belmont Avenue gas station.

Feb. 16

Harassment: A Front Street woman said two people have sent her son unwanted text messages.

Feb. 17

Pursuit: Authorities chased the driver of an all-terrain vehicle they tried to pull over near East Second Street. Later, McDonald police continued the pursuit near a viaduct area.

Feb. 18

Criminal damaging: Four holes were found in a bedroom window to a residence in the 400 block of Idaho Avenue, likely from BBs or pellets.

Burglary: To a home in the 100 block of East Howard Street. Stolen from a bedroom was a $600 laptop computer.

Harassment: A Steel Street man said a caller threatened to beat him up.

Harassment: A Gary Avenue woman reported getting such calls, possibly from her former boyfriend.

Theft: The front license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Beechwood Drive.

Trespassing: A West Second Street man told officers a neighbor continually drives on his lawn.

Criminal mischief: A man noticed driver’s-side window and windshield damage to a car he owns in the 300 block of East Kline Street.
