IHOPs nationwide, including the IHOP in Boardman, spent Feb. 5 hosting a free pancake event in an effort to raise money for Akron Children’s Hospital.

In addition to receiving free pancakes, patrons at IHOP had the opportunity to donate whatever they could to Akron Children’s Hospital and help support the work they do.

“It’s really nice to see the community come together like this,” said Boardman IHOP manager Roxanne Bertolini. “It’s great to see people donate to help the hospital, which is something so close to our area. They do such wonderful work. I think this is something truly great that IHOP and the community come together to do.”

The IHOP also offered different forms of entertainment at the Boardman location while patrons ate, such as the Aut Mori Goritto clowns. The clowns told jokes, entertained and made balloon animals for children.

“We do a lot of charity work with Akron Children’s Hospital and the Mahoning Valley,” said Harlee the clown. “It’s really a very important thing to us. In the summer, we work to raise money for different charities. It’s something fun for us to do and it makes us feel great to know that we are giving something back to the community.”
