Students and staff at Hilltop Elementary School were feeling the love during the school’s annual Valentine’s Day parties Feb. 14.
Each class held a party in their classrooms, coordinated by PTO volunteers, during which students played games, made crafts, enjoyed a sweet snack of holiday decorated cupcakes and exchanged valentines.
Students brought in decorated valentine boxes or bags to collect valentines and treats from their classmates. Students went all out to decorate their boxes with a large variety of themed boxes, such as a flower pot, a giraffe, a puppy dog, Hello Kitty, a dog house, a frog, a football field and a hockey puck.
After opening their valentines, the students played such games as a race to put together heart puzzles, heart relay race, cup stacking with red cups and heart on a straw relay race.
Crafts included decorating foam Valentine frames and making special valentines to take home to their families.
As a special valentine, students in the Kinder-Cards program created a large Bouquet of Love for Hilltop Elementary School Principal Cathy Mowry. Included in the bouquet were 25 heart-shaped compliments from the students to Mowry, such as you are kind, you are pretty, you are smart, you are awesome and you are great.
A majority of students, staff and PTO volunteers also got into the spirit of the holiday of love and celebrated it by wearing special Valentine-themed clothes and accessories.
The school’s PTO provided the cupcakes and drinks for the parties.
