Amateur boxing card set for March 9 at St. Mary’s

A 15-fight amateur boxing show is set for Saturday, March 9 at the Assumption Social Center at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave.

The event is sponsored by Lights Out Management and Tri County Wholesale Distributors.

All proceeds from individual ticket sales, 50/50 raffle and auction items will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, according to event coordinator Mike Cefalde.

Fighters affiliated with Lights Out, Jack Loew’s South Side Gym, Burnside Gym, United City Boxing, Salem Boxing Club, Green Boxing, the Warren Boxing Association and other clubs are expected to compete on the all-amateur card. Boxers expected to participate include Miguel Acevedo, Lucian Clinkscale, Angel Rojas, Zack Daniels, Jake Booth and Colton Leser.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the first bout is set to begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.

Tickets can be purchased at Jensen Lock and Alarm, Groover Roofing and Siding, Banner Supply, Clemens Wine Cellar, ITAM No. 30 and Buffalo Wild Wings.

The event promoter is James Infante. Other Lights Out officials include Tom Cordell (matchmaker), Bob Clemens (secretary), Mike Cefalde Jr. (public relations) and Jeremy Simpson (vice president).
