“The Hobbit,“ directed by Jim Canacci, Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre, 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, auditions at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Feb. 28. Young men and women age 8 to 18 are needed. Casting is not based on gender. All roles open except Gandalf. Auditionees should bring a current photograph and be prepared to read from a script. Come with any scheduling conflicts for evenings in March and April; rehearsals will be weekdays after school. Performances will be April 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20. For information, call 330-788-8739.

“Twelve Angry Men,“ Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., Salem, auditions at 7 p.m. March 3 and 4. Director Terri Wilkes is looking for male actors age 21 and over for all roles. Auditionees will read from the script, interact with others, and demonstrate the ability to assume and retain a strong character. Rehearsal dates will be announced at auditions. Show dates are Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday, May 17 through 25; no show May 26, with the likelihood of a student-outreach performance May 22. For information, call 330-332-6988.

“The Fantasticks,“ Victorian Players, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, auditions at 7 p.m. March 4 and 5. Cast calls for seven men and one woman. Needed are men age 16 to 50 and a woman age 16 to 18. Rehearsals will begin in March, and performances will be May 3-19. Auditionees should be prepared to read from the script and sing a prepared song. No CD accompaniment is permitted. The Encore Shop in Liberty is looking for Models for a fashion show May 11 at the Women’s Trade Show at the Eastwood Expo Center, 111 Eastwood Mall Blvd, Niles. Casting call is 2 to 4 p.m. March 9 at The Encore Shop, 4427 Logan Way, Youngstown. Needed are women age 13 and up who can fit size 0 to 5X. The 30 finalists will receive goodie bags.
