Lane restrictions on I-680 today

BOARDMAN

Interstate 680 northbound and southbound under U.S. Route 224 will have various lane restrictions starting at 6 a.m. today through 5 p.m. for bridge repairs.

Also, at 6 a.m., the entrance ramp from U.S. 224 eastbound to I-680 northbound will be closed until 1 p.m. for bridge repairs. A detour will be posted.

School applications

Youngstown Community School will be taking applications for the 2013-14 school year from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday and from 7:30 a.m. to noon Friday.

All applicants are subject to a lottery per grade level. Children applying for kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30. Registration will occur after notification of acceptance. Students already enrolled will re-apply the week of March 4 and automatically remain on the roster for the 2013-14 school year. For information, call Dianne Grimm, school secretary, at 330-746-2240.

School evacuated

MERCER, PA.

The Mercer County Career Center, 776 Greenville Road in Coolspring Township, was evacuated shortly after noon Tuesday because of a bomb threat. Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer said the threat was received at 12:11 p.m. No injuries were reported. State police said no further details are being released because the investigation is incomplete.

School-board meeting scheduled

The Youngstown Academy of Excellence school board will have a regular meeting at 3:30 p.m. today at 1408 Rigby St. There no longer will be a meeting next Wednesday.
