Route 11 detour

LEETONIA

Traffic on state Route 11 will be detoured next week during nighttime hours for the erection of a beam on the state Route 344 bridge replacement project. The site runs over the highway near Leetonia in Columbiana County.

Between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday, Route 11 traffic will be detoured via the on and off ramps at state Route 344.

Ohio Department of Transportation’s contractor for this $2.36 million project is A.P. O’Horo Co. of Youngstown. It is projected to be completed by August.

ATM robbery

YOUNGSTOWN

A 44-year-old Youngstown woman told police two men got into her car and forced her at gunpoint to take money out of her bank account at an ATM drive-through on Gypsy Lane.

The men robbed her of the $40 she withdrew from the machine, had her take out $300 more, and also took her bluetooth and iPhone about 8 p.m. Thursday, according to a police report.

Man pulled from car

YOUNGSTOWN

A 42-year-old Youngstown man told police a man pulled him out of his 2003 Cadillac Seville and stole the vehicle.

The man said he was driving about 10 p.m. Thursday at Albert Street and Republic Avenue when he was flagged down by someone he thought he knew, according to a police report. But the motorist didn’t know the man, who pulled him out of his car and drove away, the report states. No weapon was involved, according to the report.

Jump Rope for Hearts

Students at Robinwood Lane Elementary School celebrated raising $7,000 for the American Heart Association through its Jump Rope for Heart campaign on Friday.

Jen Flores, physical education teacher and school coordinator for Jump Rope for Hearts, said the total was $1,500 more than the school’s goal and was raised over two weeks.

“We jump rope for half an hour in gym class and raise money by collecting donations. They do a lot of it online,” she said.
