POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Feb. 6

Identity theft: A Duncan Drive woman learned her Social Security number and identity had been used without permission.

Feb. 7

Identity theft: A Clyde Street woman discovered her identity had been compromised.

Burglary: To a residence in the 6800 block of New Castle Road through a rear basement door. A video-game console, a jewelry box, an expired document and $60 were taken.

Feb. 10

Trespassing: Someone trespassed on property in the 6900 block of Poland Center Road.

Feb. 10

Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop near Glenwood Avenue and Shields Road led to charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments against 27-year-old Jonathan R. Smith, 28 Caroline St., Hubbard, when, police said, a suspected marijuana pipe and a spoon with suspected drug residue were found.

Arrest: While responding to a possible shoplifting situation at Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive, officers took into custody 35-year-old Kevin M. Sabo, 239 Gordon St., Campbell. He was wanted on a felony parole-violation charge and one count of failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor theft charge.

Theft: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail booked 28-year-old Julia V. Butler on a warrant charging her. Butler, of 3216 Bears Den Road, Youngstown, was accused of concealing then trying to return seven items while at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, and improperly receiving a $109 gift card.

Theft: Officers picked up Angela M. Orr, 50, at her residence, 5000 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, on a warrant charging her with two counts of theft after a pair of shoes was stolen from Payless Shoesource, 48 Boardman-Poland Road.

Overdose: Authorities responded to a possible drug overdose in the 7100 block of Trenholm Road, where they found a woman barely breathing with a syringe on her stomach. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.

Theft: A New Middletown woman reported her $200 cellphone stolen while in the 1400 block of Turnberry Drive.

Feb. 11

Burglary: Someone forced open a rear door in the 100 block of Prestwick Drive before removing three faucets, a compound saw and a bathroom kit. All of the items were recovered.

Domestic violence: Police charged 31-year-old Tony T. Olds, 368 Mathews Road, Boardman, with two counts of domestic violence after his niece alleged Olds had chased and pushed her to the ground, causing an injury to her left knee. Also, two other family members alleged Olds had threatened to kill them.

Theft: Sylvia L. Cuevas of 955 E. Boston Ave., Youngstown, was charged. The 19-year-old woman was accused of stealing a bottle of cologne and DVDs from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: A suspicious driver near South Avenue caught officers’ attention before they cited 51-year-old Michael N. Steeves, 44122 Kelly Park Road, Columbiana, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: A woman noticed her $200 iPhone missing while at a business in the 40 block of McClurg Road.

Burglary: To a home in the 100 block of Terrace Drive after someone forced open a rear door. Nothing seemed to be missing, however.

Theft: A woman in the 40 block of McClurg Road reported her $200 cellphone stolen.

Arrest: An Austintown girl, 17, faced felony charges of receiving stolen property and misuse of a credit card after a Green Garden Drive woman realized her lost or stolen card had been used to rack up about $1,101 worth of unauthorized charges from several locations.

Theft: Chelsea L. Klein, 21, of 87 Narcissa St., Struthers, was charged with stealing about $59 worth of food, clothing and other merchandise from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.

Feb. 12

Arrest: Police on Overhill Road pulled over 41-year-old Jeffrey M. Koczwara, 114 Jennette Drive, Boardman, and charged him with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: A man and a woman in their 20s stole five DVDs from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Criminal damaging: A garage door and its frame sustained $500 in damage in the 1100 block of Red Tail Hawk Drive.

Robbery: A 17-year-old Boardman boy was booked on a robbery charge related to a January theft at Macy’s in Southern Park Mall in which an employee reported having been assaulted while trying to detain two juvenile shoplifters.

Stolen property: Angel B. Anderson, 18, of 168 W. Warren Ave., Youngstown, surrendered on a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property after a New Castle, Pa., man reported a cellphone and a global-positioning-system unit stolen from his truck while in the 5500 block of Market Street.

Assault: After dealing with a fight at a Doral Drive store, authorities on South Avenue pulled over and charged 24-year-old Jaylyn S. Coleman of Euclid, Ohio, and Chiquita N. Cross, 25, of 1093 Eastway Drive, Youngstown, with assault after a Campbell woman reported having been assaulted and had scratches on her face and neck. Coleman and Cross were released on summonses.

Burglary: Occurred in the 300 block of Meadowbrook Avenue via a rear door. An estimated $2,500 worth of copper piping was removed.

Identity fraud: A Carter Circle woman told police a caller claiming to represent a Social Security office requested her date of birth and Social Security number to verify a raise she was supposedly to receive.

Weapon: Authorities responded to an intoxicated person causing a disturbance before charging 25-year-old Aaron M. Keffer, 42 Florist Ave., Youngstown, with one misdemeanor count each of disorderly conduct while intoxicated, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of dangerous drugs. Keffer, who police said screamed at and threatened them, had a folding knife and a bottle with two types of pills, a report showed.

Arrest: A vehicle check in the 7300 block of West Boulevard led to 51-year-old Cynthia Williams’ arrest. Williams, of 957 Burlington St., Youngstown, was wanted on a Weathersfield Township warrant accusing her of failure to appear in court.

Stolen property: Officers at the Mahoning County jail took custody of 23-year-old Kathryn M. Unick, 414 Meadowbrook Ave., Boardman, who was wanted on felony charges of misuse of a credit card and receiving stolen property. A Boardman woman found out her credit card had been used without permission to obtain property at seven township locations, a report said.

Feb. 13

Aggravated menacing: A Tippecanoe Road woman told police a neighbor stated he had a gun and made an implied threat to use it against her fiance.
