Poland Rotary hosts charity dinner and derby

In an effort to raise money for 15 different local charities, the Poland Rotary hosted its annual dinner and derby at Holy Family Parish Hall Jan. 26. The event included many activities and fundraisers for the more than 350 guests to partake.
“There are so many things going on here tonight,” said Mary Ann Carano of the Poland Rotary. “We will have horse races, auction items, raffle tickets, a 50/50 raffle, open bar, and free food, all made by Poland Rotarians. It took about three months worth of planning to make tonight possible, but the proceeds will be going to help 15 worthy charities, such as Boys and Girls Club and Easter Seals.”
The Rotary also hosted a putting contest at the event.
If a patron was able to putt three balls into a hole on the green, they could win tickets to the Rotary’s annual Chili Open Golf Classic.
This annual event is only one of the many ways Poland Rotary attempts to raise money to help the community in the area. Future Poland Rotary events include the Chili Open Golf Classic Feb. 23 at Bedford Trails Golf Course, beginning at 9 a.m. The cost to participate in this event is $25 and will include 18 holes of golf, food, beverages, prizes, and more. There will also be a chili-eating contest and putting contest.
