Gay/Straight Coalition meets Saturday

The Mahoning Valley Gay/Straight Coalition meets from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Lemon Grove Cafe, 110 W. Federal St., where it will review its March newsletter, organize a trip to Columbus for the Dump DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) Day, and create a committee for a May fundraiser.

On March 26 and 27, the Supreme Court will judge the constitutionality of DOMA.

Support Marriage Equality in Ohio is attempting to counteract protest by organizing an Ohio “Dump DOMA Day” on March 23.

The coalition will plan transportation to the Columbus event at its Saturday meeting.

The coalition was founded to support people of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community and corresponding organizations in the Mahoning Valley, through fundraising events and other communication, according to its press release.

There are no membership dues.

Meetings are on the third Saturday of each month at different locations in the tri-county area.
