Lauren Runion, daughter of Sue and Ron Runion, is on a Locks of Love hot streak.
Runion, a first-grader at Hilltop Elementary School, made her third donation of 10 inches of her hair to Locks of Love Feb. 6. According to Sue, Lauren’s first donation to the organization was in the fall of 2007 and she wasn’t alone.
“My sister and I also grew our hair out in support of Lauren and we all got it cut together and donated it. It was something we could do together as a nice gesture,” Sue said.
Barbara Hallof, hairstylist at X-Static About Hair Salon in Boardman, did the snipping honors for Runion‘s third donation.
“My sister is a breast cancer survivor, so I am very proud of Lauren and what she is doing. Lauren’s cut is free of charge, in support of her donating her hair to Locks of Love,” Hallof said.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization which provides hairpieces to financially-disadvantaged children in the U.S. and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
“Lauren wanted to do this because she wants to donate her hair to little kids who can’t grow their own hair,” Sue said.
