Kent State University Mothers Club will meet at noon Wednesday at DonaVito’s Italian Restaurant, 139 Bridge St., Struthers. JoAnn Ellis will talk about the lives of John Glenn and Marilyn Monroe. Round Table Woodcarvers will meet from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the Senior Center, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Wood and the use of tools will be provided, and carving lessons will be free. That Quilt Group I Belong To will meet Tuesday at Fair Park in Canfield. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting is at 7. Members will demonstrate the following topics: Tying a Quilt; Needle-Turned Appliqu ; Magical Hexagons; Perfect Circles for Machine and Hand Appliqu s; and Twisted Quilting. Show-and-tell theme is “What was I thinking?” Members are asked to take quilting projects that include mistakes. The group is open to all interested quilters at all skill levels. Youngstown Chapter of International Torch Clubs’ dinner-discussion meeting will be Monday at Pete’s Place, Kilcawley Center, Youngstown State University. The speakers will be Donald Butler and Dennis Thompson, who will debate “Should the Government Pass Rules and Regulations to Prevent You From Harming Yourself?” The public is invited. Austintown Friends of the Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road, will be visited by Elizabeth Cole Clark of Howland. Clark is a retired history teacher and will discuss the woman’s duties and social obligations of the time of Martha Washington.
