Police probe death of boy found in burned home

POTTSTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities are looking for leads in the killing of a 17-year-old boy whose body was found in an apartment that had been on fire.

Investigators say blood smeared the walls of the staircase leading up to the second-story North Coventry Township apartment where the body of Kevin Allen was discovered Tuesday night. Crews had responded to a fire there and it was quickly extinguished.

Chester County District Attorney Thomas P. Hogan says the killing doesn’t appear to be random.

Hogan says the killing was apparently done by one person, acting alone. The cause of death has not been released.

Authorities say the apartment is being rented by Allen’s father, but he was not home at the time.
