HARVEST FOR HUNGER How to help

Harvest for Hunger is a monthlong food and funds drive in March to replenish Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley’s shelves in preparation for the summer months when donations traditionally taper off. Here is some basic information:

All funds raised and food collected are used to feed hungry families in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Second Harvest can distribute $15 worth of food for every $1 donated.

Contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law.

The most-needed food items include canned vegetables, canned meats, tuna fish, peanut butter, cereal and dry pasta.

Food and money donations can be taken in person to Second Harvest, 2805 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Financial donations in the form of a check or money order can be mailed to Second Harvest Food Bank, 2805 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, OH 44509; or donations can be made through the Second Harvest website at www.mahoningvalleysecondharvest.org.
