Board of control approves severance package

YOUNGSTOWN

The city’s board of control approved a $5,460 severance package to former employee, Socrates Kolitsos, fired 27 years ago.

The board approved the payment Thursday for unused sick time he accumulated during his five years as special assistant to the Community Development Agency director.

Kolitsos was fired in March 1986 from the job, which paid $12 an hour, for violating state law by being a classified employee running in the partisan Mahoning County auditor race in 1986. He lost the election.
